Statement
The first time I truly recognized the beauty of the world was the moment I put on a long awaited pair of glasses. I was finishing up art school and I finally saved enough money to help myself see the world like everyone else. I remember being shocked at how vivid the colors were. Blurred vision didn’t deter the way I saw lines, but it deprived me of feeling color. Suddenly the glasses helped me see everything – the red fire hydrant, the rusted gates, the turquoise oxidized metal, the baby blue sky. I noticed how each color was not just one color but a combination of colors that together created a lush field of visual experience. Since that moment, I have been fascinated with color. From this fascination, I established a desire for an experience which minimizes all other visual elements.

The Harmony Series is a collection of abstract paintings that are inspired by the colors of my surrounding - from flower gardens, to the blue sky, and urban surfaces. Through learned techniques in painting and intuition I use this inspiration to create new visual experiences that invite sole investigation and appreciation of color.
